When you click options you get the bulk of the menu in which you can customize all the functions that FDC offers to your best liking. As I said previously the program has the checklist generator and the flight deck calls.

Both features of the program can work in two basic modes, either on full auto, in which you can decide at what time the flight deck call, or the checklist is called previously. You can also choose both features to work manually also, which basically assigns hot keys for checklists and calls to be made. Whether you choose auto, or manual settings, both are very simple to use and can be easily customized. When on auto, you can decide at what altitude to call after take off checks, at what speed or with which time delay call taxi checks.

On manual, you simply press the space bar when you are ready for the next checklist, or another hot key when ready for the cabin announcements. At the same time you can use other pre set or user adjusted hot keys to go back to a previous call, or to pause a checklist, or to restart it.

You can either skip or go back through a full flight stage by clicking the correct hot key. The whole FDC experience is virtually in your hands, you cannot take a wrong call, because you can go back to it at the right time if need be. When you first start using the software you will need to keep the hotkey list handy. You will have a hard time using the software if you do not have the hot keys close to you where you can consult them. After time they become familiar and you get to learn them rather easily.

If you prefer to have your own hot keys, all of them are customizable, and can be changed in a matter of seconds; the software has some of the best interfaces for changing features in an easy and rapid manner. The software has almost every airliner and general aviation airplane you will ever need.

All aircraft have their own settings for their corresponding checklists, and basic info such as v speeds, and any other pertinent information. All the planes had no problems interacting with the software, and all their checklists were right on the money with minor exceptions.

If you happen to have an airplane that is not on the FDC list, not to worry, you can ad your own aircraft to the list and you can make custom checklists and announcements for it. Another interesting feature FDC carries is the virtual copilot. If you like to keep your hands busy with flying the aircraft and want to leave button pushing to someone else, FDC has the virtual copilot for you.

By activating this mode the virtual copilot will handle most of the switches when calling for the checklists. With very little exceptions the software does a good job of taking care of the main switches, but with complex simulations such as PIC you might want to keep your eyes out for certain things the virtual copilot might forget. You can either build your own checklists from scratch or use one of the existing ones as a template.

Once created and saved with a 'name of your choice' the checklist will appear in the FDC checklist select menu system, alongside the default ones. FDC user created Checklist Files are interchangeable between users and provision will be provided here at OnCourse Software for downloading files created by other users.

Unlike the built in Flight Simulator controller assignments, this FDC feature allows you to program the buttons on your controller for different phases of the flight E. Parked, taxi, takeoff, cruise, approach, landing, etc. So, if you're limited on the number of buttons available on your controller, this utility expands it's capability a great deal.

You may want your controller buttons assigned to one set of keystrokes whilst taxing and something quite different when ready for takeoff. ControllerXR allows you to do just that. You choose at which point of the flight you wish to start and end the clock and FDC takes care of the rest - very useful for the VA pilots amongst you or just to check how many hours you do actually spend in your virtual world perhaps it would not be wise to show this to your partner!

The FDC Blackbox Log is yet another unique and original feature of this outstanding program and provides a wealth of flight information for those that want to know exactly how fast their last landing was… did they have the correct pitch on touchdown… what was their rate of descent during finals… when did the Captain call for 'gear up' during takeoff and when did the co-pilot actually carry out the captain's instruction, etc, etc.

Primarily designed for bug-tracking purposes during development, the Blackbox Log records just about everything you do during each flight and is easily displayed from within the program. These files can be grouped geographically and also into controller sections ground, tower, departure, approach, en-route, etc. These controller folders can also be subdivided into specific COM frequency folders if you wish.

FDC detects any COM frequency change and checks for folders within the correct controller section of the same name, making this a very flexible and powerful feature indeed.

You select the geographical area of departure and arrival plus various areas you will pass through en route. These are configurable dependent on the size of the departure and destination airports e. Small, medium or large. Using these options allow you to configure FDC to your exact liking. Totally new, easy to use, interface for working with the hundreds of configurable options available within FDC. Professional written documentation, provided in electronic PDF and CHM format for download versions plus a full 90 page printed manual with CD boxed versions.

Context sensitive help is also provided within the program, down to specific individual option level. Plus there's a page electronic manual on CD. All this and much, much more…. A NEW auto updates feature. When selected FDC will check once per day to see if any new updates are available.

Should you choose NOT to use this new option you may still use the 'Updates' control from the main menu. Whichever option you choose if any new updates are available and you confirm you wish to download them the installation will be automatic. That's right, no more having to choose the correct installation folder and clicking Next, Next, Next. All updates will be fully automatic including stopping and restarting FDC if necessary. We hope this new feature is not only much easier and seamless for our users but it will also enable us to provide any small fixes quickly and easily.

Please note: FDC does not collect any personal data about you or your system. This feature downloads a text file from our server then runs a version status check. ADDED some more options to the User File setup page to allow additional flexibility for you to choose when the files are played. Each file can now be configured by the original method xx minutes after the previous message, etc or at a given altitude during climb or descent you may even choose that by AGL or MSL or XX minutes starting from a given point of the flight e.

You may override this if you wish in the unlikely event that FDC get's it wrong! Also, when you 'connect' to FS FDC will check the departure airport again, just in case you moved to another airport.

Also, you can click on the 'Refresh' label which you'll find just below the ICAO display box, although this should only be necessary if you suddenly decided to skip to another airport after 'connecting'. FDC will check this periodically throughout the flight and update the 'distance to go' on the main menu screen. Obviously this is not of much use to the single pc user who runs FDC on the same pc as FS, but for those using networked pc's or multiple monitors this new feature may prove quite useful.

Once this information has been gathered FDC will present it to you in a number of ways, again entirely your choice. FDC can also display a popup screen which overlays the FDC main menu, in this case it will show Airport name, Elevation, all available runways with the active one s highlighted, the ILS type, ILS frequency and finally the runway heading. You can also choose if you want the kneeboard to popup automatically or leave it as a manual operation. This feature uses the default 'Keylist' section so that feature of FS will be unavailable whilst using FDC's active runway listings.

Each of these options may be chosen in isolation or a combination of any or all of them. So, if there are no flights currently on route to that airport, or if you have AI Traffic turned off, FDC will not be able to determine the active runway at all. The actual airport data i. Also, for those airports utilising multiple runways for landing FDC will not be able to determine exactly which one you will be assigned and will have to highlight each one designated for landings, in this situation the audio prompts will assume the 'first' in the list to be the active one.

All optional of course and you may turn anyone of these OFF if you wish. You may now choose between a Option Off, b After leaving the gate and before the Taxi checks or c prior to the Before Takeoff checks. Files include aircraft, scenery, and utilities All are free-to-download and use - you don't even need to register.
